The questions families ask us most often.
The firm
About Triple L
Who we are, how the firm is put together, and why it stays small.
01What kind of firm is Triple L?
An independent wealth stewardship firm. We work with families, family offices and institutions across Europe, Asia and North America, and we do three things: off-market real estate, private company co-investment and discretionary stewardship.
02Are you a bank?
Not at all — we're not a bank and we're not trying to be one. Our work is wealth stewardship on a mandate: we look after what you entrust to us, and we agree together in writing on how it's done before anything begins.
03When were you founded, and where are you based?
In Switzerland in 2015. Our office is in Biel/Bienne, but most of the families we serve live outside the country. We work with them across time zones, in person and remotely.
04Why does the firm stay small?
Because the work is personal. A relationship is looked after by people who know it well, and we'd rather give a limited number of families our full attention than take on more than we can properly care for.
05Do you take on anyone who asks?
Not always, and we say so honestly. When we feel we're not the right firm for a situation, we say it early — that's fairer to both sides than starting on the wrong footing.
Who we serve
The people we work with
Families, family offices and institutions across Europe, Asia and North America.
06Where are your clients based?
Across Europe, Asia and North America. The office is Swiss; the families mostly are not. We work across time zones and languages, and travel for the meetings that need to happen in person.
07Do you work with private individuals?
Yes, where the situation needs more than a product: a business about to be sold, a generation changing hands, or arrangements that no longer fit the family they were built for.
08Do you work with family offices?
Yes. Some come for one discipline, usually property or private company positions. Others use Triple L for stewardship, reporting and long-horizon planning while keeping their own team in charge.
09Do you work with institutions?
Yes — foundations, pension schemes and similar bodies that need patience, discretion and a documented process rather than a number that reads well in a quarterly note.
10Is there a minimum size of wealth?
We do not publish one. What matters more is fit: a long horizon, comfort with assets that cannot be sold quickly, and a preference for a few positions you understand over many you do not.
11Can we begin with a single project rather than a full mandate?
Yes, and most relationships start that way — one property, one co-investment, or a review of what you already hold. A wider mandate comes later, if at all, by your decision.
How we invest
Discipline, patience, and where capital goes
Where the capital goes, how long it stays, and how it is looked after.
12What are the three disciplines exactly?
Off-market real estate: property found outside the open market and bought to be kept. Private company co-investment: a position alongside owners who stay in the business. Discretionary stewardship: looking after what a family already holds.
13Do you trade listed shares?
Trading isn't what we do. When a family holds listed investments, they sit inside a stewardship mandate and are looked after with a long-term view rather than moved around from one quarter to the next.
14How long do you hold something?
In years. Property is bought to be kept and private company positions are entered expecting to stay, which is why the money a family needs immediately is agreed separately before anything is committed.
15What if I need cash suddenly?
Liquidity is arranged before it is needed. Part of every mandate is fixing how much stays immediately available, and holding that reserve even when the illiquid half looks better spent.
16Do you guarantee returns?
No, and we prefer to say so plainly — no serious firm can promise a figure, and we'd rather be clear about that from the start. What we commit to is a disciplined process, honest reporting, and a straight explanation in a quiet year.
17Do you publish performance figures?
No — reporting is agreed individually with each client and delivered privately, which we think is the right place for it. What's on this website describes how we work, not headline numbers.
Practical matters
Fees, confidentiality, and everyday questions
The practical questions that come up along the way.
18How do you charge?
Fees are agreed in writing before work begins and disclosed in full at that point. We do not print a tariff, because what a mandate costs depends on what it asks of us.
19Is my information confidential?
Yes. What you send us is used to answer you, never sold or passed on, and held under the terms of the Privacy Policy.
20How quickly will I hear back?
Within two working days, usually sooner, from the person who would handle your file rather than a shared mailbox.
21Can I visit the office?
Yes, by appointment after a first exchange. We also travel — most clients meet us where they are, not where we are.
22Are you hiring?
Rarely, and mostly by introduction. Send a short note on what you do; we keep it and write when a suitable post opens.
23Is anything on this website investment advice?
No — every page, including the scenario tool, is information and illustration rather than a recommendation to buy, sell or hold anything.
